Basic information

The Master Degree Program Digital Business Engineering imparts deeper computer science competences in innovative core topics of Business Information Systems. The focus is on engineering methods for IT-based value-added processes as well as the technical and strategic know-how for the comprehensive and pervasive informatization of companies.

Computers and information processing are primary means of production of digitization. Accordingly, this program discusses topics such as service engineering, business process modeling and distributed systems. In addition, students will learn about the integration of novel approaches of computer science in business-relevant strategies.
This can be outlined in the current discussion around the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) or methods of entrepreneurship for the digital transformation of companies. Student will learn the implementation methods of the corresponding approaches in the IT consulting and consulting projects.

Application: Applications must be submitted by 15.01. (For the start of studies in the summer semester) or until 15.07. (For the start of the winter semester) to the Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences via the application portal.

Admission: The admission takes place by the University of Reutlingen, Faculty of Computer Science. The other university partners will be involved in the selection process.

Status of the students: The students are officially registered at the Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences and are also supervised by the institutions of the Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences. However, the institutions of the other partner universities are also at your disposal.

Studying at the HHZ

The Herman Hollerith Center (HHZ) has an excellent technical equipment. The location in Böblingen has been specifically designed for the Master's degree courses in Services Computing and Digital Business. The technology and software are tailored to these courses. In addition, the students have access to the technical resources of the participating partners and are fully integrated into the outstanding offer of the Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences. New laboratories and software offerings are developed and implemented in close co-ordination with the participating companies in order to ensure the most practical training possible.

The master program is conceptually based on the Bachelor programs of the participating universities and universities. In doing so, integrated projects firmly integrated into the study program ensure the practical relevance of the training. The contents of the course are developed together with the participating companies and adapted continuously. The study can be completed completely by accompanying the individual modules.

Christian Decker is a professor for Smart Data Services at the Faculty of Informatics at the Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences. He studied computer science with a focus on telematics at the University of Karlsruhe and, in 2009, promoted in the field of "Ubiquitous Computing". He then switched to a medium-sized company for public transport systems. There, he directed the area for statistical evaluations of mass data generated by the on-board computers of large vehicle fleets and used for quality proofing and optimization of public transport services. 
His research focuses on smart data services as well as data products in data-intensive environments and Internet of Things (IoT).
