University of Rostock

Since 2011, there has been close research cooperation with the University of Rostock through joint publications, conferences and doctorates in business informatics, especially in the field of Digital Enterprise Architecture. The University of Rostock was founded in 1419 as the oldest university in the Baltic Sea region and has developed to this day into a renowned full university with a strong and internationally recognised business informatics in the two corresponding faculties: The Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences. According to the scientific cooperation agreement concluded with the University of Rostock in 2020, doctoral students of the HHZ can obtain a doctorate in the field of business informatics at the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, under the initial supervision of the HHZ, for the degree of Dr.-Ing. or, in addition, at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences for the degree of Dr. rer. pol. with high-quality degrees in each case after a core duration of 3-4 years. With these special doctoral opportunities and types of degrees, we feel committed to the high quality goals and guidelines of the University of Rostock and the DFG for the supervised doctoral students at the HHZ. We rely on close and trusting cooperation between the participating university partners and complementary project partners, as well as on collaboration with innovatively oriented companies. Professors of the HHZ will be involved in this doctoral cooperation as equal supervisors, reviewers and examiners of the HHZ of Reutlingen University according to coordinated orientations. The research work of the doctoral students takes place mainly at the HHZ. The individual programme is flexibly introduced by a coordinated exposé in the focus of interest of the doctoral students.
