Dennis Ludl

Dennis Ludl

Dennis Ludl is a research assistant at the Reutlingen Research Institute in the field of Computer Science / Cognitive Systems. After his successful master's degree in media and communication informatics at the Reutlingen University and a few years as a software developer for test field management systems, he started as doctoral student in the area of scene understanding for autonomously operating machines. Parallel to his doctorate, he works in the research group "Cognitive Systems" at the BMBF project "Open Fusion Platform" (OFP).

The group of cognitive systems develops applications based on Computer-Vision, Machine-Learning and Computer-Graphics in combination with methods for modeling human cognitive rocesses. Highly controllable and realistic settings, real-world sensor data and simulations, offer the opportunity for advanced experiments and at the same time a framework to design and optimize processes in Human-Machine-Interfaces. The approach ultimately opens a new window to modern industries such as entertainment computing, communication systems (information transfer, multimedia), and assistance systems (medical assistance, transportation, autonomous driving).

Together with the University and Clinic in Tübingen and University of Stuttgart we are part of the new Neurorobotics Research Program by the BW-Stiftung. In our project KONSENS-NHE we develop an intelligent seeing hand orthesis to increase usability through automatic assistance and to increase efficiency for rehabilitation. Overview of all neurorobotics projects (April 5, 2017).

Together with Hella we organized a workshop on machine vision and interfaces in data fusion platforms for automated driving at the Intelligent Vehicles Symposium in 2017.

The new laboratory MoCap 4.0 is sponsored by the BMBF in the program FHInvest with support of the national industry partners (September).

Cognitive Systems is partner in new BMBF project "Offene Fusions-Plattform" (OFP) in the call eMobilize. The  Kick-Off was in January 2016.

Workshop with industry partner Hella on "Holistic interfaces for environmental fusion models" at IEEE sponsored annual symposium Intelligent Vehicles, 2016. Overview, official webpage and program.

Workshop on "Interaction of Automated Vehicles with other Traffic Participants" at IEEE ITSC 2015.
